Code of Conduct for suppliers.

Being a family-run company, we know what taking over responsibility for future generations looks like. Sustainability, resource conservation, and climate protection have been part of our daily operation for years – both in terms of high-end technology development and production, and the day-to-day work life of our employees. As a modern and environmentally conscious family-owned business, it is important to us to make a contribution and become "greener". It is the great challenges of today, such as new technologies, increasing competition, global social and climate policy challenges that have shaped the guiding principles of our entrepreneurial activities and actions. We expect our suppliers to share these principles and to comply with applicable regulations and laws.

This Code of Conduct for supplies defines the minimum standards that our contractual partners are expected in order to comply with this responsibility. It is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the fundamental labor and social standards of the International Lab our Organization (ILO), the Guiding Principles of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the principles of the UN Global Compact.

Responsibility towards people.

People have the right to be respected in their dignity. At Weber, we adhere to the protection of human rights in accordance with the International Human Rights Charter of the United Nations. In this context, our suppliers are committed to adhere to internationally recognized labor and social standards. This includes the following principles:

  • ILO No. 111/100: Treat all workers with respect and provide a workplace free from harassment, abuse and discrimination of any kind.
  • ILO No. 87/98: Recognize the right to organize and the right to collective negotiations within the limits permitted by law.
  • ILO No. 100: Comply with minimum wages and working hours in accordance with local laws or minimum standards of the respective national economic sectors and when observing the ILO standards. The wages paid enable workers to lead an adequate standard of living.
  • ILO Nos. 29, 105, 138, 182: Prohibition of child labor, forced labor, all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking, as well as recruitment, procuring, or offering for illicit activities. Respect the right to freedom of expression. Ensure due diligence to promote responsible supply chains for minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas in accordance with the Guiding Principles of the OECD.

Responsibility for the environment.

Together with our suppliers, we are aligned in our effort actively protect the climate along the supply chain. Our suppliers are committed to taking reasonable precautions for the environment of their employees within the scope of their business activities. This includes the following principles:

  • The efficient use of natural resources and of secondary raw materials wherever possible, as well as energy-efficient, climate-neutral, and environmentally friendly technologies
  • The conservation of natural resources such as land, forests, and waterways
  • The termination or restriction of the production, use or release of persistent organic pollutants
  • The classification and labeling of hazardous substances and mixtures in order to enable safe use of chemicals
  • The appropriate disposal, control, and treatment prior to the release of
    • waste, including compliance with prohibitions on the export of hazardous waste,
    • waste water,
    • emissions,
    • chemicals or
    • other materials with a potentially negative effect on human health or the environment

This also includes the reduction of waste quantities, the reduction of emissions as well as compliance with restrictions on the handling of products containing mercury.

Responsibility as business partner.

Our suppliers are committed to fair conduct in competition and in their business relationship with Weber. For this purpose, the following principles must be adhered to

  • The prohibition of corruption, blackmail, embezzlement, money laundering, and financing of terrorism of any kind
  • The respect of applicable competition law regulations
  • The compliance with applicable customs and export regulations, and sanction regulations
  • The confidentiality and protection of personal data as well as confidential information and sensitive business information of Weber
  • Actively providing information to Weber regarding situations that may lead to a conflict of interest with regard to the business relationship
  • Suppliying products that comply with the applicable laws

Responsibility for compliance.

Our suppliers are committed to establishing a Compliance Management System that adequately supports compliance with these principles as well as applicable regulations and laws. This also includes having an effective internal or external whistleblowing system to ensure that violations of these principles or corresponding risks can be reported. As part of our responsibility of cooperating in the supply chain based on integrity and trust, the companies involved in the supply chain, their employees and other third parties can also contact to the Weber whistleblower system (Integrity EQS) at any time in the event of possible compliance violations. We regularly review this Code of Conduct and make changes as necessary. Important changes are communicated to the suppliers.

As it is very important to have relationships that are built on trust, we support our suppliers, if necessary, with regard to the fulfillment of the due diligence requirements contained herein. In order to ensure our own due diligence, Weber remains the right to verify the compliance of the supplier with this Code of Conduct by suitable means. Within the scope of such a review, the supplier shall provide us access to all necessary data and information with regard to the implementation of this Code of Conduct. In the event of a suspected Code of Conduct violation, the supplier will be required to adress the violation accordingly. In case of a suspected violation, Weber may conduct its own investigation with the support of the supplier. In the event of a Code of Conduct violation and the principles contained herein, we reserve the right to take appropriate legal action.

Our suppliers are hereby committed to adequately communicate the contents of this Code of Conduct to their employees, representatives, and subcontractors, and to take all necessary precautions to implement the principles contained herein.
